Thanks for reading!
This is going to be too long for email, so I hope you join me in clicking to “see more”.
I played a live DJ gig for the first time last week! I opened up the release party for this album The Arc. I haven’t performed in any capacity for over 10 yrs- it was nice to be welcomed into the DJ-ing world in such a supportive environment. Truly an honor for Brian to ask me to do it. Thanks to everyone else who played the show and the staff at h0l0 <3
July’s Picnic Punk is uploaded to YouTube and features songs I didn’t get to play at the release show as well as some nice frog sounds.
Let’s go back to London in May..
Old friend Colin showed us around a really cool cemetery. He also took us to the bar chain that influenced Brexit, but it was in a cool historical building and the guy who runs it regrets doing that, so I guess it’s ok?
Colin also mentioned that the NTS London station was in his neighborhood. I wanted to just take a picture of the outside of the building, but a kind producer noticed us and let us in to take a look. Obviously I was GEEKED.
The NTS festival, the inspiration for this trip, was the next day!
Aba Shanti-I was using a giant binder of CDs to DJ. I also filmed part of his set poorly on camcorder.
On the other stage Theo Parrish was DJ-ing for 6 hours straight (and was having a freaking blast the whole time).
Dry Cleaning, a band I was unaware of before the festival line up, but very quickly became one of my favorites. It’s like if Suburban Lawns rocked even harder, and was a band of actual grownups. Please if there’s another band like this thats been kicking around for years - LET ME KNOW! I’m linking the camcorder video of them, but I just know there’s going to be sections thats just me freaking out.
Videos of Nala Sinephro + Helen. I am also mad it took me this long to hear about Nala Sinephro, absolutely heavenly.
JPEGMAFIA was the headliner and the blokes were going FUCKING MENTAL.
Peggy taking a ride. During his set people tried to mosh by yelling “AMERICAN STYLE” and slamming into each other. I yelled at one guy and his friend excitedly said I was “The most American Girl”. I realize being “American” in the UK has a very different meaning than what I think of.
Camcorder video of the day, I didn’t get everyone. It’s fun to servo-zoom ok.
On our last day the streets around central London were closed for people to bike around. We were able to bike past that palace, circus, tower, bridge, river etc. So fun!
Ford Sponsored it. Can you imagine Ford closing down all of Midtown to cars lol.
Hyde Park’s beautiful gate
Our last meal was “take away” vegan/regular fish + chips, including some mushy peas. It was a great end to a lovely vacation :)
